3000 Towers achievement of IGT in Myanmar

 

In the midst of this great achievement of Irrawaddy Green Towers Ltd. having completed 3,000 towers across Myanmar, the management have decided to celebrate this one in a lifetime event with its employees.

Together with its courageous and hard-working men and women who are instrumental and behind in achieving this number, IGT have launched a three (3) day team-building trip in Bagan, Mandalay Region from 10-12 August 2018.

This started from a long journey but enjoyable bus trip of three (3) from Yangon city to Bagan city on eve of 10th Aug 2018.

Enjoying the ambiance of Mandalay Region, IGT team visited in the morning of 11th August the ancient places and tourist spots that Bagan can offer namely; Shwe Si Gone Pagoda, Alotaw Pyae Pagoda, Ananda Pagoda, Htilominlo Pagoda, its Lacquer Factory and Manuha Pagoda.

In the evening of 11th August 2018, management have arranged a sumptuous dinner with its staff. This event was greeted with a heart-warming welcome speech from CEO, where David Thomas Venn has congratulated all IGT staff present at Thiripyitsaya Sanctuary Resort, as well as the rest of all stakeholders that helps meet this great achievement of the company.

On second day, IGT team proceeded to Mount Popa for a nature-loving trip visit before heading backed to Yangon. This celebration ended with a very memorable and lasting experience amongst IGT employees.

 

Board of Directors Site Visit

In September 10-14, 2018 Board of Directors of Irrawaddy Green Towers visited Myanmar and met the management team of the company. After a successful meeting with its management team, the Board of the Directors took the opportunity to visit telecommunication sites in Yangon. The objective of the site visit was to meet the stakeholders on-ground, to assess the performance of IGT assets in terms of compliances to its policies in safety, health, environment and quality aspects, and to get a better understanding of the factors affecting network performances of IGT sites.

The Board of Directors was joined by the CEO- David Thomas Venn, COO- Bassel Ahmad Jamaluddin, and management team from operation & maintenance and power. The Board of Directors have all been briefed on IGT network operation activities, how does it functions and work on-ground. All the observations of the visits were all discussed by the Board of Directors to the entire management team and a corrective action plan was formulated to ensure that the issues are resolved and that the sites are brought up to the IGT specified standard to ensure maximum uptime delivery.

At the end of his visit, the Board of Director has reiterated to the team its core responsibility of ensuring quality and better performance of IGT sites at all times in order to achieve good network service to the community in Myanmar, and this can only be realized thru full ownership, vigilance and TEAMWORK.

Bagan Regional Site Visit

Apart from gracing 3000 towers achievement event with IGT staff, its CEO David Thomas Venn took the opportunity to visit for four sites in Bagan, Mandalay region. The objective was to meet the stakeholders on the ground, to assess the performance of IGT assets in terms of compliances to policies in safety, health, environment and quality aspects, and to get a better understanding of the actual factors affecting network performance.

The CEO was joined by staff from projects, operation & maintenance, power and the O&M vendor who are responsible for these sites. All the observations of the visits were discussed by the CEO and the team and a corrective action plan was formulated with the RM taking responsibility to ensure that the issues are resolved and that the sites are brought up to the IGT specified standard to ensure maximum uptime.

At the end of his visit, CEO has reiterated to the team its core responsibility of ensuring quality and better performance of IGT sites to achieve good network service to the community and this can only be achieved thru vigilance, ownership and TEAMWORK.

IGT Weight Challenge 2018

QHSE launched a widely embraced Health Awareness program thru its weight challenge competition this year in IGT environment. This event were participated by over 50 participants in the company.

The culmination of this most awaited event was celebrated together with IGT’s 3000 Towers achievement in Bagan City, Mandalay at Thiripyitsaya Sanctuary Resort on the eve of 11th August 2018.

This program were graced in the presence of IGT top management team headed by the CEO/ David Thomas Venn, COO/ Bassel Ahmad Jamaluddin and CFO/ Elie El Haddad.

Appreciation is given to top Ten (10) deserving winners on this challenge with a token incentives.

Fire and Earthquake Evacuation Drill 2018

This annual mock drill has been set to be performed in IGT office environment as it is define in our existing emergency procedure. This to ensure awareness for all staff the appropriate response on emergency event. Fire and Earthquake drill had been simulated at the same time this year. Before the drill was executed, information had been sent to personnel providing additional knowledge for the big one.

With the collaboration of ICC building management and all its tenants, said activity was concluded on 15 June 2018.  During the exercise, staff from tenants in the building have participated including 102 personnel from IGT. The event had been carried out successfully without any lost time injury (LTI) in our hand.

IGT HSE Weight Challenge 2017 Part Three (3)

Due to the overpowering demand from its employees on this Health Awareness Program, IGT management have decided to launch the Third (3rd) Weight Challenge Competition.

This weight challenge has concluded on 29th September 2017 at Vintage Luxury Hotel with sumptuous food prepared to all its employees followed by awarding of prizes.

Once again IGT CEO has congratulated the participant on this event and reiterated everyone to continue living a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and refrain from eating harmful foods. On this event, winners has shared their own experiences on how they were able to beat and overcome the challenge.

Appreciation is given and rewarded Ten (10) deserving winners on this challenge with Cash Incentives.

IGT Emergency Evacuation Drill

As a follow-up to the recent series of completed Emergency Awareness Programme to all its staff, IGT have concluded this by conducting the Emergency Evacuation Mock Drill on 12 July 2017.

The activity has been well communicated and approved by the management of ICC Building with appreciation of our effort on the emergency preparedness procedure. During the exercise all tenants on the building have all participated including 140 IGT personnel and visitors. The event has been carried out successfully without any Lost Time Injury (LTI) in our hand.

The said training on Emergency Evacuation Procedure has added a complete understanding to all IGT employees on how to respond properly on any forthcoming emergency scenario that may arise in the office premises.

 

REUSE RECYCLE REDUCE Helping the Environment

In support to the environment, IGT have directed all its staff to implement recycling programme in its office premises beginning 3rd quarter of this year. The corporate objective are as follows;

  • Reuse used paper to all office printer using the blank side of the document
  • Reuse used paper for photo copies, notebooks, for attachment to invoices, remittance claims, etc. instead of using a new paper

By this IGT can;

  • Reduces tree cutting and eventually conserves natural resources
  • Reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and combustion facilities by reusing the recycled paper in the office premises
  • Reduces pollution by preventing the need to collect new raw materials for paper manufacturing
  • Reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that contribute to Global Climate Change
  • Recycling is the best way to have positive impact in the world we live in
  • Recycling is an excellent approach of saving energy and conserving our ENVIRONMENT
  • Helps sustain the ENVIRONMENT for our future GENERATIONS to come

 

IGT Environment Day 2017

Promoting company’s commitment in support to corporate social responsibility to the Environment, IGT have initiated this first ever environment event this year. This event will impart message to the community across the country that IGT are environmentally friendly not only to IGT sites and its surrounding areas but as well as throughout Myanmar.

On 10th of June 2017, with the partnership with the local government, red cross, MPT, Telenor and some media practitioner, IGT have launched an Environment Clean-up Drive at Inya Lake Park (Mya Kyun Thar Park) along Kabar Aye Pagoda Road, Kamayut and Bahan Township, Yangon.

The event has been carried out successfully even rains have poured in the morning. The whole stretch of the park from University Road up the Petrol station has been cleaned up with the courageous effort of the participants. Behind this drive has its own goal to inculcate to all employees’ mind our individual core responsibility to the environment.

After the activity everyone proceeded to a restaurant where a sumptuous lunch have been offered by the management to all participants. IGT management joined the group and express deep gratitude for a job well done.

 

IGT HSE Weight Challenge 2017 Part Two (2)

Part of a continuing effort on Health Awareness among its employees, the management of Irrawaddy Green Towers have launch a Second Weight Challenge Competition.

Effort exerted by all participant on this weight challenge has concluded on 26th of May 2017 at Vintage Luxury Hotel. Aside from the program proper, the management have prepared a sumptuous food to all its employees followed by awarding of prizes to deserving winners.

Our IGT CEO has congratulated all participant on this event and reiterated everyone to continue having a healthy lifestyle, with regular exercise and refrain from eating harmful foods. Each of the winners has all shared their own life experiences, their struggles on how they were able to overcome the urge of eating something nice, and finally chosen to be one of the weight challenge finalist.

As sort of a token appreciation, the management has rewarded Ten (10) deserving winners on this challenge with Cash Incentives. Hopefully, this kind of event will take place often as requires as it deliver good result and motivation amongst IGT employees.

IGT HSE Marathon Fun Run 2017

In line with the company’s vision to promote our social responsibility among ourselves in supporting human rights, underage labor, anti-corruption, environment, safety and health. 

Irrawaddy Green Towers have exerted an extra milestone in organizing one special event to exercise this corporate drive. With this, IGT have scheduled a half day activity of full of fun games on 18 March 2017 at Foot Ball Field in Star City, Thanlyin.

From the sideline, IGT has commissioned one (1) Medical Response Team from Victoria Hospital all equipped with an emergency ambulance, one (1) Doctor, one (1) nurse, one (1) PCA & one (1) GW. This is to mitigate risk just in case of unfortunate injury during the activity.

This Marathon Fun Run 2017 event has started with a breakfast call of all our employees in our new IGT Office in ICC, Botahtaung Township. This is followed with a group motorcade towards the venue. As usual, the activity is ushered by a warm introductory speech from our CEO.

The Fun Run has lasted for almost one (1) hour for all participant to complete the six (6) laps of total three (3) kms. distance run.  This was followed with six (6) exciting fun games of Tug of War, Sack Race, Three-(3) Legged Run, Food Challenge, Potato Run and Balloon Exploding.

To refreshed and re-energized all employees from such tiring activity, IGT has served quality and healthy of variety foods at lunch time to all its employees. After which awarding has been given to deserving winners of each category of fun games.

The event is concluded with an encouraging parting statement from our CFO- Elie El Haddad. And before moving out from the venue hand-in-hand all IGT employees did one teamwork of clean-up drive to its surrounding environment of the activity.

As we parted ways last Saturday, IGT are happy to report to have a Zero Lost Time Injury (LTI) on our hand. The management are hopeful that the camaraderie and teamwork that we have observed in the field among our IGT employees will be translated to a more productive environment to our workplace’s and sites.

 

IGT HSE Weight Challenge 2017

As a follow-up drive on its Health Awareness among its employees, the management of Irrawaddy Green Towers have launch its first ever Weight Challenge Competition in 2017. This is to encourage individual who are overweight and obese to reduce weight so as to have a healthy body.

Nonetheless, our CEO has called and recommended everyone to practice a healthy lifestyle, refrain from eating harmful and fatty foods that are detrimental on attaining the desired weight.

With this challenge we have commissioned a Medical Team of 1 Doctor and Staff to assist, advise concerned employees who have participated on this challenge on the positive side of having a sound body in a working environment.

This tremendous effort exerted by all participant of this weight challenge has culminated on 24th of February 2017 in Taw Win Garden Hotel. The management have prepared a sumptuous food to all its employees on this afternoon then followed by awarding of prizes to deserving winners. It is hosted by our CEO who has delivered a motivational message among all attendees of the event.

As a token appreciation, the management has rewarded four (4) units of Apple- IPad to the first 4 winners and a cash incentive to the other ten (10) participants.

Before we left the venue with had taken group photos… and leaving hope among ourselves that nothing is impossible as long as we really desired for it as saying says “Failure cannot overtake us if our determination is gritty enough”

IGT Health Awareness Programme 2017

In as much as IGT is rigid enough to see to it to implement full compliance of the QHSE policy to all our site by our Team and Vendors.

IGT as well are equally responsible to encourage our own personnel to maintain a sound body and sound mind in all workplace’s/site’s.

In this respect, IGT have spearheaded the Health Awareness Programme 2017 to all its employees on 13 Jan 2017.

Part of our Health Awareness Programme, IGT have commissioned one (1) Doctor (For Medical Consulting) and four (4) professional nurses to conduct Medical Check-up of the following test;

· Weight Reading

· Height Reading

· Blood Pressure Reading

· Glucose Test (Sugar level Test)

In the afternoon all employees are gathered around at Taw Win Gadern Hotel to watch a movie name “ That Sugar Film” which is related to this Awareness Campaign .

IGT have accorded all staff with a sumptuous health & fresh foods as a start-up for this afternoon activity.

And as usual our energetic CEO have break the ice by delivering his Introductory Speech on this memorable event in 2017.

 

Awareness workshop at Htantabin Township

Awareness workshop was done at Htantabin Township, Yangon on 21 December, 2016.

This workshop is part of the outreach program practised by IGT aiming to build a long term partnership between IGT and the communities in the area.

IGT has two sites in this area namely – YN0061 and YN0107.

This workshop was attended by about 50 people from the surrounding communities.

Presentations were done explaining IGT objectives concerning the towers and the local communities.

The workshop emphasized on the safety of the towers and the responsible business model practised by IGT. It was clearly explained that IGT business goes hand in hand with the community development of the people in the area.

A question and answer session was incorporated in the workshop to build a dialogue with the participants.

The workshop was very successful and at the end of the session –

(2)U Win Myint, Village Tract Administrator, Donggyi Village Tract, requested a tower for their village tract because mobile connection in their village was not good

MCRB Workshop in IGT

Along with the successful background as a first tower construction company in local business Myanmar, IGT has strongly commitment to giving back to the country through its numerous charities and philanthropic donations across Myanmar. To be in line and efficiently initiate CSR activities across Myanmar, recently, IGT had invited Mrs. Vicky Bowman, director of MCRB(Myanmar Center for Responsible Business) for one day workshop for discussion of the overall image of responsible business and how can we participate in the area. The workshop was arranged at IGT head office and mainly attended by CEO, CFO along with managers and directors of various departments.

Operational Excellence 2016

Irrawaddy Green Towers (IGT) introduced “Operational Excellence” within the organisation during December 2015. Challenges in the work flow and practical steps to eliminate/mitigate these challenges were openly discussed and action plan put in place for different departments. One year after the first workshop, IGT organised the second Operational Excellence workshop at Summit Park View Hotel, Yangon. This was attended by all the senior management and department heads, and culminated in an action plan for improvements for 2017 after an exhaustive discussion of achievements and learning of the past year.
